Few establishments in Waco can boast a location as well known as Sironia on Austin Avenue. For the past 11 years, Holly Harris and Martha Sanders have owned and operated Sironia. Holly is a Waco native and attended Baylor; Martha grew up in Round Rock and attended Baylor as well. Waco holds a very special place in both of their hearts.
Many Waco residents may know the building was originally built and designed for Sach’s on the Avenue by an architect out of California. It was a high-end clothing store with amazing wedding dresses, fur coats, men’s clothing and much more. After that, Diane Henderson bought the building and turned it into Sironia. She named the store after the epic 1,700 page novel, “Sironia Texas” written by Madison Cooper. The fictional Texas town is said to be a thinly veiled version of Waco, the author’s hometown. Diane was a pioneer for women in business and held amazing fashion shows, ran the cafe and had a beautiful collection of boutiques inside the store. Holly and Martha bought the building in 2004 from Diane.
When you enter Sironia, you are instantly taken back and delighted by the selection of gifts, candles, cards, custom fine jewelry, furniture, baby clothing and women’s clothing, both regular and plus sizes. All of the boutiques are independent artisans and small business owners who rent space from Holly and Martha. Please see the “contact” page for inquiries about space rental.
